Hi all,

I want to buy new DSLR for my new coming baby. I'm the first time to use DSLR. Heard that only DSLR can take a photo for baby since baby always move around.

Any suggestion? Nikon / Canon?

Nikon: D40? D80? kit or body? if body, which len I should buy?

Canon: 400D? kit or body? if body, which len I should buy?

I prefer this DSLR can use for travel in the future. so not only for people, it may be used for scene as well.

Also I prefer to use it for a long time. So I don't mind to pay little bit more $ on day 1.

Shooting baby indoor means no flash. So your DSLR must either have good quality at high ISO value (Nikon is pretty good at that) or image stabilization (e.g. Song Alpha 100 or Pentax K10D) for slow shutter speed.

I have same experience as you;

I just bought a new D40 + kit for taking photo with my new-born baby 2 weeks ago.

I also concern about travel in the future, so I choose D40 becasue of its small size and light weight.

D80 is good of course, but I don't need those new features at the moment; maybe upgrade to newer model in the future (new model & new features keep coming out every year)....
