made in japan may not indicate good stuff. even though production of a product is planned to be locate in china or other areas in lower labor cost, production line will be set up in japan first to evaluate stability and any problem occurred during mass production; once production become stable, production line will be moved to desired area in lower cost. so 'made in japan' to this kind of products usually means 'production is under evaluation'.
