u better do that when u don't plan to take photo within 1 or 2 days ..

If you take out the batteries for too long a period, you will probably have to re-enter the date and time setting.

I think the standby current of digital cameras are normally very small, you shouldn't have to worry if you're just leaving the batteries in the camera for days or even weeks. Anyway, check your camera specifications.

For example, say your camera standby/sleep current is 1mA (or 1000uA), and your battery capacity is 600mAH, then you will get 600 hours of standy/sleep mode time before the battery is depleted.

This is a problem like William said. I don't know why the date and time settings for DC cannot be maintained when the battaries are taken out. The manufacturers can include small button battery to maintain supply to timer. It is very inconvenient to set the timer everytime when you use the DC.

I agree that if you won't use the DC within 2 days, you better take out the batteries ! I don't know if you have experience that when we are small, when those China batteries leave in the toys, some chemicals will "Leach" out from the batteries and cause the toys dead ! Of course nowadays this case "maynot" happen but in safe you better take it out la !

Anybody experienced fluid leakage with their Lithium battery, please voice out, so that we won't leave the battery inside DC for too long a time.

I suggest leave batteries in camera if leave it a few days or a couple weeks as u don't need to set date and time again.
But if u are going not to use it for prolonged period it's better to take it out. The battery itself may leak electrolyte due to certain environment factors, and it will definitely ruin ur equipment, so it's safe to take it out and store separately. And even if u leave the battery in chamber it may not be able to last for period of several months, so it's not worth to leave battery in camera.

I'm using GP1800 1 hour charger ($220 Shum Shui Po, street side) w/4 AA 1800 battery. Not bad. Can charge 1 AA battery individual. But the size is quite large.
