Canon 70-200 f4 IS $8200-8300, I have this lens excellent image quality even wide open at f4 and IS is very useful. Highly recommended if budget is ok.

There are several reasons for 70-200 f4 IS more expensive than Sigma,

1. Brand name cost more
2. IS, Image stabliser is also cost you more, the non-IS version is only around $ 4300.
3. 70-200 can be used on FF eg. 1D series and 5D. sigma 50-150 can't, if you go for FF in future 50-150 can't be used on FF bodies.

I usually use it to take portrait, airplane in the airport, flower (far away) actually it is quite useful, I have both 400D and 5D for different purpose. 40D will be my next toy.

網上睇canon有支55-200is f/4-5.6都好似係$1,680，希望冇睇錯啦~敢點解依支又咁平？依支既範圍好似cover倒你?支(Canon 70-200 f4 IS $8200-8300)，可唔可以敢講？

1. i prefer canon lens than other brands. colour is better, in my opinion.
2. 580, lar, if budget allows. no need for upgrade, ma.

55-250 3.5-5.6 IS is very cheap, for range it can cover 70-200 f4 IS but there are still have some differences,

1. All plastic construction, including mount
2. It is a EF-S lens ie. only can be use on APS-C bodies like 400D or 40D NOT on FF bodies.
3. It does not has USM for focusing so focusing is so as fast as 70-200
4. Built quality is average
5. The lens will extend for zoom or focusing
6. The front element of the lens will rotate during focusing this make the use of polariser difficult
7. Image quality is not as good as 70-200

Remeber, more money always give you more.

Well, for new comers 55-250 is a good choice and even I consider to buy one for travel as it is so light.
70-200 f4 weight 760 g and f2.8 even 1.4 kg !!
