i am a newbie to dslr, with some experience of film camera when i was studying photography design. I want to buy one dslr for shooting buildings and daily life. which camera should i go for? D40x or d80?

I am D80 user. I have same question before. Finally, I chose D80, because D40X only can use DX lens. It limits the lens selection.

Secondly, D80 is easier to select functions on the body, instead of set in the manu. And, if you try D80 and D40X, you will feel the difference below them.

I understand the price is main concern, but if you want a further development I suggest D80.


D200 is great choice, but I think it is out of your consideration.

if you won't use any tele lens or even you won't change lens
and you like light weight and small very much then go for D40x
