my question is simple

should I store my best photo in PNG or TIFF?

jpg is lossy, and PNG & TIFF are lossless

but the point PNG have SMALLER file size compare with TIFF
yet most photographer and photo software by default is choosing TIFF rather then PNG???

so anyone know whats the advantage of TIFF over PNG?

because I am going to delete all the RAW pic and convert to PNG or TIFF once and for all....
so I hope I didn't make an wrong decision ....

PNG並唔係for專業用途，佢主要目的係想o係internet度取代gif format，所以好多專業editing唔夠tiff（如png唔supoort CMYK），詳情你可以去WIKI睇，我copy一段畀你參考︰

While this makes TIFF useful as a generic format for interchange between professional image editing applications, it makes adding support for it to applications a much bigger task and so it has little support in applications not concerned with image manipulation (such as web browsers). The most common general-purpose, lossless compression algorithm used with TIFF is LZW, which is inferior to PNG and, until expiration in 2003, suffered from the same patent issues that GIF did. so for only STORAGE use, PNG is sufficient right??

because I read somewhere that PNG is the best for vector graphic....

and saying a lot that TIFF have what "icc profile" which png don't..


I just want to store my photo lossless.....

just like storing music in ape/flac/wav rather then lossy mp3/wma...

我鍾意將Raw轉TIFF，用來曬相都得

PNG is lossless but compressed.
TIFF has not compressed.
So, the image quality is :TIFF > PNG.

Raw -> PNG
Raw ->Tiff -> PNG

both PNG are the same

Raw->Tiff
Raw->PNG-> Tiff

both Tiff are the same too(file size,exactly the same )
