For office use, I think you mainly use to take photos for the samples, right ? If that is correct, then I think the Macro function must strong ! Nikon's DC are really good for Macro function. At your budget, I think I will either choose Nikon 2100 or Canon A70 !

I suggest you buy canon A70 more than A40 as it have more manual functions ! So you can use it when you have annual company functions !
