Dear ALL experts,

Can anyone explain to me what the no. "1/1.8", "1/2.8" etc in CCD mean ? Does it mean 1x1.8 or 1divided by 1.8 ? cm or inch ? Which one represents bigger/better in CCD and quality of photo ? Do I have to consider this when buying a DC?

It is the size of CCD. 1/1.8" CCD is larger than 1/2.8" CCD. Normally, larger CCD size is better.

The larger the CCD/CMOS size the less noise which is annoying in consumer class of DC.
