for d90 17~55dx f2.8 is better

becasue this is normal range

If you are sure upgrade to FX, then go for 24-70 2.8, but you have to suffer wide angle. ^_^

Choice is depending on your preference ^_^.

May be 17-35mm 2.8 is another choice if you prepare to upgrade to FX.
