I am using D300 and just bought a Nikon 14-24 F2.8 because all reviews by Ching said this is a superb "lens king". I have taken some night shots and some indoor ones. For the night shots, I used ISO 1600 and F2.8, with s of 1/20s. However, surprisingly the pictures are not sharp, and in fact blurred. I believe it was because of the shutter speed and no VR. My LB6 is excellent when taking night shots and even 1/3s gives sharp pictures. Is something wrong with my 14-24? or just because i dont know how to use it? When taking indoor pics, it is not as sharp as my Tamron F2.8. I just don't know why. Can any ching pls give some advice? Is my lens defective? Thanks.

Try to use a tripod to take photos and see if the problem still last.

Ching, I also suggest you taken with Tripod and test once more.

I've not LB6 but my 14-24 is the most sharpness LENs compare with my LB5 & 24-70. BTW, you can also try to use lower ISO & smaller F (such as ISO 200, 400 & F5.6-F11) to test, you should get a better result; or you can perform a LENs test as well.

Thank you very much for your comments. I took the lens to Nikon CS to check. They checked it for 30 min and told me the far end focusing has something wrong, and they can repair it for me.

I never had any defect in any of my lenses. This is the first time. Is it very rare? Did it happen to any of you? I just wonder why Nikon is so bad in quality control.

Ching, 14-24mm has better performance in a full frame camera. For a same scene, taken by D300 will be different from D3s.
