Hi guys,

I will buy Canon 350D by Chinese New Year!!
I am thinking about the lens now...I will get Canon 50mm F.1.8 for sure. But I like wide angle lens also. Due to budget constraint, I think i can only go for Sigma's at this moment.
Does Canon's 10-22 provide better quality than Sigma's 10-22? I would love to get Canon's 17-85 IS USM but that's a lot of money >.< For long range, i would like to get Sigma's 70-300.
I hope that would be a good combination. What do you guys think? Feel free to express your opinion :-)

yet, my friends keep saying the quality of those lens who cover the long range are not as good as with cover short range. I am just a bit afraid of the quality and durability.

If you are a Pro. Buy canon lens！If not buy Sigma or Tamron will be fine！Remember always keep your camera and lens in the dry box . They will serve you for years！

How would you evaluate the durability of Sigma/Tamron and Canon?
If the durability of Sigma/Tamron is only half of the Canon's and Canon's costs less than double of sigma/Tarmon, in that case, it's better to buy Canon, right?

I do not agree that Canon lens can last much longer than Sigma and Tamron lens.

Of coure Canon lens is solid , you can treat it rough like a Pro .I used minota lenses for more than 20 years. They are mostly made of plastic.They never break down！But my minota camera 9000 have broken down 5 years ago！IN fact ,I had taken apart a minota lens and found that it is not complicate at all.Of couse it may be more complicate if it is a zoom lens！

Now I am using Canon camera; Sigma 18-200mm ; Tamron 11-18mm; Tamron 28-300mm. They never let me down！Of course I have Canon L lens. I seldom use it unless I buy Canon 5D！

Last but not least ,you have to buy a DRY BOX. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR TOYS INSIDE THE DRY BOX PLEASE.

I have three canon camera; they are:350D; 10D; Powershot Pro1 .I love 350D very much. It is light in weight. I love Sigma 18-200mm also due to it"s weight and convenient！

When I was young , I used NIKON camera and NIKON prime lens！From 24mm f 2.8 to 180MM f2.8.But they are realy heavy！So I sold them to my brother and turned to minota with zoom lenses. Of course some were prime lenses too！

On my Macue trip, I only brought the 350D. Tamron 11-18mm; Sigma 18-200mm Pictures even took with ISO 1600 indoor were acceptable.

At this moment, I only know for sure I want a Canon 50mm F1.8. I still haven't decided whether I should purchase the kit lens or not >.<

If I were you ,I would buy EF 50mm f/2.5 compact macro instead.

I have two dry boxes (收藏家 Brand Name)The small one is about HK$1380. But I have seen a smallar one in 萬成 camera shop which is less than HK$1000. There also are dry boxes whiout AC supply！Price around HK$380. (Can put 1 camera and 2 lenses inside .Remember put some dehumidifying bags inside the BOX.)

I dont' have much knowledge in dry box as I just try to figure it out the DSLR and the Lens I want to buy.
I have asked few friends and they said that the sigma flash light works just as fine as the Canon's. But is there any disadvantage of using Sigma's flash?
For the dry box you mentioned, is it better to have power supply than without? To keep the humidity lower?

Nothing is perfect! The recharging time of Sigma EF-500 DG SUPER is a bite slower than Canon 580EX as if you continue shooting with flash. In fact it is not a big different!

The dry box with power supply is super! But if you don't have enough money, the one with out power supply will do! Below is the web site about it

You can put even 1 camera and 4 lenses (or 2 big lenses) inside. Price is around HK$380. You can buy at 吉之島 basement where is a small film processing shop. The shop even has a small AC supply dehumidifying box for sale which for putting inside the dry box keeping the humidity into lower states.

I suggest you to go to the 萬誠 or DCfever .If there are any big sale？Buy the dry box with power supper will be better！
