Any recommendation for a DC to a father in 80s?!
- big LCD screen 2.5" to 3"
- Ease of use with big buttoms
- point and shot without mode switching (he may get lost from menu or choice of program modes)

My suggestion is Canon A630 / A640 because of the followings:-

Use AA batteries, so he doesn't bother to recharge them.
Large 2.5" flippable monitor.
With ASPM mode, set it to Auto mode for him.
Big shutter release button and large grip.
8M / 10M, so you can crop an image with acceptable quality.

However, they don't have IS.
