Canon EF 17-40 should be the best but it has a shorter range. Therefore I have bought the Sigma 17-70 and I am happy with it. The Sigma 17-70 is better than the Canon EFS 17-85 because it is sharper and has 2.8 diaphram.

For the price of either Canon lens, you can buy both the Sigma 17-70 and Sigma 70-300 APO and still have change in your pocket.
