lights aroud are too yellow. I tried various white balance on my G3 with 420EX but improvement is not obvious. Is it that my shutter- aperture setting goes wrong? I usu use ISO 50 or 100, 1 to 2 sec, f5.6 or above. Thanks for any advice.

Flash lights are daylight (5500K) balanced, tungsten light are at a much lower color temperature. Mixing 2 different light source would cause color shift that is not easy to correct, at least traditionally.

Now, it is not uncommon too make sure your subject (skin tone) exposed using the correct white balance. Question is: do you really want the background appear white?
