Here just to share how to use an external flash on a DC(AZ1 in this example) to without hot shoe or X-sync cord.
Some people may try to buy an new slave flash that has a delay circuit. However, what if you already have an $1000 plus flash? Actually you can use an slave trigger which looks like the following to make use of it even though your DC provides no direct link to an external flash.

If your are using an "ordinary slave" (or an ordinary slave trigger, in this case). The pic will be like this. It is even darker than one w/o the external flash.
Never mind this guy. He s ugly anyway.


However, if you use a slave trigger having a delay circuit, i.e one that would slave fire a few microseconds after the pre-flash. It will be like this.

Well, at least there is an economic way to make use of the old gears you have.
Also, to tell the truth, I ddint use a 1K plus flash for these few pics as my speedlight misses the right shoe. Instead it was only a 200 $ Sunpak. At last, the setup is more like this

I just find out that: With regard to to Nikon cp5700,

the camera cannot catch the slave flash if you use it in delay mode (way under-exposed)and
cp5700 is doing alright if you use the normal slave trigger flash.(That's provided you have the correct setting with regards to the GN number of yr slave flash, of course).
It is just the opposite of other DCs. That means CP5700 does not have pre-flash.
