1. Compact size camera with almost DSRL quality
2. ISO useable at 800. Still acceptable at 1600
3. Large sensor still can keep lens so small with 4X (compare with EVIL)
4. Metal body with solid feeling
5. Inherited good control from G series
6. Movable good quality 3" monitor
7. OVF useable when under bright light condition
8. Direct video recording button useful particularly snap video taking. (Finally a/v in Canon G series)
9. Best in background blur for non-EVIL prosumer camera

1. One dial less compare with G12 (replaced by flash, appeared a bit stupid)
2. Detached lens cap rather than automatic electronic control one added a bit inconvenience during daily usage
3. A bit heavy for ladies usage
4. Relative slow focus system compare with similar price EVIL camera
5. Adaptor only used for MACRO assist light (Almost not used on daily basis)
6. Battery a bit short (Need to bring 2 batteries for 1 day trip)

I have used 7D as my usual DSLR. I want to buy a smaller size camera with good image quality for daily living and travelling. I owned GF1 with it's kit lens. I am pretty sure the image quality is good for the 20mm/1.7 lens. However, the zoom lens is a bit frustrating particularly the size of GF1 with zoom lens is no longer 'compact' for travel. (Not able to put into pocket or small bag).
Among similar price, it can be used to purchase almost all brands of EVIL camera with it's standard zoom lens or even Dual kit set in some basic model. However, no such EVIL camera can offer F/2.8 at 28mm with this compact size yet preserve 4x optical zoom power. It's hard and unfair to compare with either G12 or other EVIL camera as it's merely just the product in between.
Overall it's the only single large sensor compact prosumer camera in the market with good image quality in a relative small size. I believe the only concern will be the high price tag then make lots of people hold their hands. However, if you need something like what I want, I believe you will satisfy with this camera.

之前我是用sony nex5, 雖然是apsc size, 但我對佢kit 鏡的表現, 介面的操控和發色都覺得有0的微言. 用sony nex5 之前我是用G11的, 放棄G11都係因為佢畫質問題. 但我覺得G機操控幾好, 方便, 舒服. 同埋扭mon 比反mon 好用. G1X發表時我覺得佢係我想要的細機: 大sensor高畫質, 操控舒服, 方便攜帶, 因為sony + zoom kit有時都覺得好大舊.

用了半個月發現室內iso3200 確實是可用, 進取0的6400 都ok. 12800 也可以接受. 低iso 十分sharp. Auto WB唔錯. 是的, marco 問題都困擾左我幾日, 但現在習慣了, 我暫時是可以接受的.

如果要反應快, 對焦狠, 我會用返我的D700, 但好多時想輕輕鬆鬆出街影靚相, 我覺得G1X是好的選擇

相靚，高iso 可用同實際，放大鬚根都很清，影人的膚色好好

影唔到macro, 不過我很少影，所以問題不大，但要習慣一下

唔錯，第一次用canon機，以前用Nikon d300, 因太重賣嗮

Some members compare its macro ability with average prosumer camera is just meanlingless, it only reveals that they simply don't understand basic physics! Most Macro of prosumer cameras are naturally good because of their small sensors ! But Macro ability of this G1X is really below average even compare with average lens on a DSLR body

DSLR quality in a prosumer Body

I think this camera is best for some flash prohibit indoor scenario require silence, the high ISO capbability and silence shutter is a breakthrough for these kinds of situation
