I upgraded from my 350D to 500D a month ago (well... bad move !!) and regret so much now. I am thinking of getting a "better body".

I read so many discussion here... but I cannot tell if I should go for a 50D or go for a 5DM2 if I am going to keep my 500D.

Can anyone share your view ? Thanks.

Seem you are very itchy, try go straight to 5D2 the FF :-)

Well, I like the terms "Itchy" since it is really the case.

But can Ching also advise what is the major consideration point for me to decide if I should go for a 50D or 5DM2 ?

The picture quality improvement from 500D to 50D would not be significant. So, better go for 5DII.

By the way, in which aspect you are not satisfied with the upgrade from 350D to 500D?

When I upgraded from 400D to 450D, the improvement was visible to me.

if u just want picture quality, just stay with 500D, better invest more on lenses.

5D2 picture quality is not much different from 50D / 500D (see my comparison with 5D2+17-40/f4 vs 50D+10-22 if u are interested)

If u need speed, don't waste $ on 5D2

the only reason I think 5D2 is meaningful to 50D or 500D owner is its excellent high ISO performance

David, actually from 350D to 5D2 or even to 1Ds3 all of them can give you excellent pictures if using properly, they just have different feature and different price point for different market or different end user requirement.

For me I will separate "photograph" and "gear collection" apart, if there is no constraint like budget or shooting style (really itchy!) buy the higher model you can and resell it when you find you dislike it (used camera and lens have quiet good resell value by the way). Enjoy the shopping if affordable :-)

hi hi, if I were u and wanna keep 500D, I'll buy the 50D la.
So, u hv 2 DSLRs:
500D for video + oversea trip (ligther ma)
50D for the rest.
