A bit of sharing.

I gave up using Leica R lens on 5D2 as it was hard to focus. However, I recently got a KPS 1.3x viewfinder magnifier. Finally, 5D2 viewfinder is big enough to focus after all these years.

You may want to look into it as well.

No need to modifiy the 1Dmark III focusing screen, for 5D II the focusing screen can be change and Canon also supply 裂像對焦屏 for 5D II price around $280-300.

Just change it at home and can change back to your original focusing screen if you want.

i am looking for it too!!!! Asked many place, there is no such focusing screen for 5DII. If anyone know where to buy, please share.

Sorry ! I made a mistake the focusing screen for 5D II is only precision matt there is no 裂像 in the middle.

But the manual of 1DIII said the metering can only the centre weight to have a correct metering. (page 176 of 1DIII manual).

Sorry to jump in.

I am wondering why 5D or 1D need to use split image screen when there is auto focus? If use manual lens, whatever lens used will not be easy due to the viewfinder too small to focus. Hope to get some enlightenment on this.

I am using Leica 裂像對焦屏 for a long time. You are right when the F small then 5.6 then become hard to focus. The reason I using 裂像對焦屏because I use a lot of Leica R lens, I also have the R > EOS adaptor with PCB confirmation, but the 1 -4 generation PCB confirmation is not so accuracy, you still need macro adjust after the bit sound.

However when I bought the latest generation ( 6 generation), the focusing confirmation is very good, almost 99% is right focus after bit sound. So I give up the 裂像對焦屏 and using the original 5D II one. It's the brightest even in F8.

I also have some R lens from the old days. Yet, I always have problem with focusing and ended up not leaving them at home. For the 6th generation adapter you mentioned, may I know where you got it?

Just curious, do you still use R nowadays as main lens?

One think. How to change the Lecia lens to use on EOS mount.
I want to learn. Thanks your advise.
Also, R or M Lecia can use for Canon?

There are adapter rings to add between R lens and EOS. (M lens cannot be used.)

However, all R lens wider than 35mm cannot be used as the mirror clearance is not enough. Some zooms also not usable.
