Hi,
Any brothers and sisters out there have any experiences or knowledges about gray market Model , Water Model in Nikon D3s and Nikon D3x beside warranty issue.
The funny part , shops claiming Hong Model ( HK Model ) from Price.HK. , their shops are not under HK Nikon web. list.
In gray market ,Water Model , beside Japanese software , QC , the same ?

When you are talking about the top of the range DSLR, I highly recommend you to stay with the original HK stock. As the price difference between the two is not significant at all.

Don't ever trust and rely on the water goods after-sale service. There is zero guarantee.

Nikon has really restrict policy against grey market product.

Tell you my experience, I am a professional photographer in Australia, and I brought my gears (original HK dealer goods) in HK. But when I wanna put those items to service in Australia, Nikon Australia has their right to charge me for the service.

When we are talking about electronic products, there are always some unfortunately will get a faulty product. You really don't want this happen on you when you are not covered by the factory warranty.

Touch wood if this happened, it is only mere luck for the water goods shop to follow up with you. Highly possible a customer has to pay for the repair as well.

If you have the money to shell out on a D3s, D3X...there is no reason to save the small amount of money and take the risk. If you plan to use it in Hong Kong, buy a Hong product. As long as its Hong product, you will get warranty service since you deal with Nikon, not the retailer.

As a consumer , I am find of confuse in the HK line.
From Price.com.HK , shops claiming Hong Kong model yet their name are not in the Nikon web. list.
From the major player shops ,even the same chain , their price are not the same.
How could a regular joe like myself could be sure I am getting a real model and not a gray market and am paying the fair price ?

Only get from those big and trustworthy reseller =D

Nikon website also show all their authorised retailer.
