Adv: Colour, sharp, reliable.
Dis-adv: more expensive.

Minolta:
Adv: 5400 dpi resolution
Dis-adv: Colour, 5400dpi is too higher for negative iso100 film. It is no use.

Even 4000dpi is too high for iso100 negative films. 2700-2900 dpi is the max.

If you are a Nikon user, not care about money. go for Nikon.

我都一樣有大量舊菲林要 scan ，我就想一次過買部好既 scanner ，一次過 scan 晒，燒落 DVD，仲要燒幾個 backup 唔晒再煩。

幾位師兄好似都話 Nikon coolscan V 好，有 ICE 功能比較好。

我不是有錢，但 scan 的過程的確是太幸苦，想一次過買部好少少，scan 完就一了百了。除左 Nikon coolscan V 有 ICE 功能，仲有邊部可選?

請問邊間價錢平D?

Minolta 5400II has ICE and in the same price range as Coolscan V. If you don't need very high dpi, used Minolta Elite models and some old Coolscan with ICE will do too. Just be aware that 2800dpi will yield 60MB TIFF file, 5400dpi will yield 4x the file size. For archival purpose, even DVD is not quite practical because you will have to deal with a huge # of disk. Not to mention writable DVD is not that stable for long term storage, and there is no single standard on DVD format. Just image you had your data stored on a big pile of 3.5" 10 years ago. What would you do with them today? You should also expect no less than 2 mins for each scan, and some scanners are a lot slower. Scanning is an art in itself too, so prepare to do some research and testing before you got everything right. Good luck.

多謝 wlachan 回應。我想買個好少少既 film scanner ，但都想過你講既問題，scan 完個 file size 太大，變左沒有意義，好難 store 起黎。

有邊部 scan 到快又色對，我根本不需要太太 detail ，最重要是色對。請問有邊部介紹?

有冇考慮過Epson Perfection 4990? 因為我要scan 6x7 所以 35mm film scanner用唔到。

其實我部部都 consider ，我的要求也不高，正如 wlachan 所說，scan 一張菲林不應該多過兩分鐘。我要求簡單。

我只需要 scan 以前的普通生活照，並不是甚麼靚機名鏡拍的，只是普通的傻瓜機拍的。所以並不需要太 detail ，只要色對就行了。

我的菲林全部都係 35mm 菲林，沒有120的，所以並不需要 scan 大相底。

原本想買 Nikon ，但覺得scan太耐，沒必要scan到咁detail，請問有沒有其他介紹?

講你都唔信，用film scanner還不及用cheap cheap scanner scan 3R相！

我用Minolta film scanner，可能由於沒有內置ICE除塵除花，加上菲林太舊太花，有些甚至溶化了，scan出來都冇用，而且scan出來的image有好多類似高iso出現的微粒，不似DC相的平滑。反而用平價scanner scan 3R效果也不差。

所以如果你的相大部份有相片存底，菲林又保存得不太好的話，先試scan相片看看如何。

I am also looking for a scanner for scanning slides and negative but don't want to invest too much on a film scanner. From overseas forum, I found comments on Epson Perfection 3490 is quite good. Anyway, I cannot find any sample scan.

BTW, it is selling at US$99 in US. I don't know why it cost around HK$1500 in HK.
