I have two scanners
1. Minolta Elite ll ( not work now )
2. Nikon Coolscan 5000ED
Nikon is better because:
better software and driver for fine adjustment , faster , directly feed for 135 negative ( no need film clip-tray as Minolta ) , built-in transformer and metallic housing so that it is heavy and stable ( Minolta is plastic made , external transformer ) , 4000 dpi max output as 22 MP very large document size ( 60M Tiff or 20M jpeg) for single scan

How's the result for scan photo directly?

I am using Nikon 5000 ED.

For the best result, using Nikon 9000 ED is better than Nikon 5000 ED becos the lens used in 9000ED is better. However, 9000ED is slower than 5000 ED much.

For Nikon 5000 ED,
1350 DPI with ICE, 46 seconds per film. Around 55 mins per roll.
2700 DPI with ICE, 60 seconds per film. Around 60 - 65 mins per roll.

If using DEE, add 10% of time.

Time include adjust R, G, B, SAT, Level Curve.

Basically, 2700 DPI is good enough for GOLD 100 or FUJI 100.

I want to 5000ED. But I play horizon camera: 1 image = 2 standard film length. That means (24 x 54)mm for 1 image. Do 5000ED can scan this length without cutting?
