If this would be your only lens, which one would you get? Thanks.
EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM or EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM

I will get 24-70 general zoom Len, instead of 16-35 wide angle Len.
Beside the Len purpose, the zoom range is better on 24-70.
Both Lens quality are very shape. Will be perfect, if you can get both.

Indeed it depends on the camera body you're using right now.

But for me, I will choose 16-35 2.8 no matter which body I'm using. (I'm using 40D with 17-40 F/4)

The only reason for me to choose 16-35 instead of 24-70 is that it's still very sharp even 16-35 is wide open, but you'll never find this on 24-70, except there will be a new version for it.

And most of the time I'll take landscape photos, so the answer is obvious.

I shall choose EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM.
Because it comes with wide angle, standard to a little tele range... it is an excellent choice.

i have a 16-35 on 40D before. dont really use it that much as it was effectively 25.6-56mm. Now I change to 5DII it be came a super wide lens. It takes amazing pic now.

But if u are not going to buy more then 1 lens then 24-70 is all round choice.
