I am now using 40D +Tamron A16. I want to buy a telephoto zoom lens. I have these 2 preferences:
1. 70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM
2. 70-200 F4 USM

So can you give me some suggestions on buying which one is better.

p.s.: I want to spend only around $5000-6500.

Pay a little more (around 7K) to get a 8-90% new 2nd hand of:

a. EF 70-200 f/4L IS or
b. EF 70-200 f/2.8L

These 2 lenses are better.

picture quality: EF 70-200 f4 IS > f/2.8L > f/4 L

but only 70-200 f/4L is $5000-6500.
