Hi all, I am a beginner of photography and used 400D for around 1.5 year. The only lens I have used is the kit-set (18-55mm).

I am currently comsidering upgrade my lens and flash, I got a few questions and hope someone could give me some suggestion...

(1) My friend suggest me to buy Sigma 18-50mm Macro F2.8, however I found that Sigma 17-70mm Macro F2.8 is even cheaper, can anyone tell me why thats the case??

(2) If for general use, is Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 a good choice? or do you have any other suggestions?

(3) Anyone think Canon Speedlite 580 ex II is over equip for 400D??
