If you have to say that, I think even a car is useless. I think an apartment with cash in your pocket is better.
I know many friends who have cars but no cash in their bank account.

Camera is used to shoot good pictures. I like Canon because it gives soft and more realistic pictures, unlike Nikon which is too sharp and unrealistic. It looks like all objects (even human) are lifeless.

I don't care how the camera looks like. What I want is a good picture.

Both 500D and d5000 do not look good.

Go for 1DM3 and D3X if you want the "best" look

Sharp or not, maybe all because of the Kit lens.

I trust Canon's sensor and processor more.

d5000 does not have motor in the body, you will have limitation on choosing lens.
