for me, A16 for both portrait (exclude head shoot) and lanscape is good

It depend on your choice, for quality A16 is the best, others better is range. A16 is my choice. If you do not have budget conern, you may get 2 Lens, canon 17-40L and 70-300 Is USM can cover most of range and got better quality.
