各位 Ching,

小弟現正用 7D + 24-105 L F4, 並想買多一枝長鏡. Any suggestion for:

1) 100 - 400 mm F4.5-5.6L IS; or
2) 70 - 200 mm F2.8L IS + Extender 2.0 ???

EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L IS USM
1. 鏡身輕，手持良久都沒有問題
2. 最大光圈到F8都勁Sharp
3. 對焦好快，加左EF 1.4X都好快
4.“4級”IS（比舊版IS穩定多）
5.色水靚、利， 真係無得彈
6.F.4 影人都已好靚，影大頭都得， 散景好自然，高一級就係高一級。
7.當然有F2.8會拍攝時會更靈活（但好重ＫＡ～到時無人會幫我揸機！）但我已完全滿足此鏡帶來的色水震撼, 後期加工可以減省一點.

100 - 400 mm IS is better than 小白+2x, in terms of faster focus and picture quality.

I have 小白 IS + 2x Extender and played with 大白 IS for a little bit. If the reach is very important to you I would go with 100-400 mm. It also gives you an option to add a 2x Extender later if needed (but without AF). If the reach is a nice to have, 70-200 mm f/2.8 IS gives you more flexibility and it is a more general purpose lens. I use it for portrait on my 5D2 more than using my 85mm f/1.8 prime. Also since 小白 IS 2 will be out soon, it is even more attractive whether you get the new one or pick up an original 小白 IS for a reasonable resell price.

As usual it will all depend on your needs and also consider with the lenses and camera body that you already have.

For "ACanonGuy", did you compare the quality of the photo using the same setting (e.g 150 mm F4.5, or 400 mm F5.6) ?? As I saw some reports to show that the quality of 大白 IS at 400 mm is better than 小白 IS !

Hi Roy,

I have not done any comparison at that level. I think it is quite understood that the quality of 100-400 mm will most likely be better than 70-200 mm WITH 2x extender on at any focal length. I usually avoid using the extender as much as I can but still a viable option if absolutely needed.

So as others suggested, if the 400 mm reach is your primary need, go with the 100-400 mm. if not, 小白 IS is an excellent choice. Again this is only my opinion :).

ISXB+1.4X的话，仔细看还是看得出画质明显下降。自动对焦速度及IS无明显影响。2X大概也是这样。
