Hi chings,


I finally bought 17-40L yesterday. When I go into the shop, I am still 50-50, meaning not sure to buy 17-40L or 24-105L. When I ask the sales, he recommends 17-40L, so I bought it.

Last night when I am playing with it, I noted an issue. When I attach the lens hood and turn on my internal flash, at 17mm side, I noted big black shadow on the photos. Is it because the internal flash is not "TALL" enough? Any solution to this problem?

In fact, at night time/ indoor, can I remove the lens hood for using the internal flash?

但就算唔用hood, 支lens 都唔會遮到個flash?

I am not too sure, but when I tried last nite, I can't see any black shadows when I have removed the hood. So seems to me 支lens 唔會遮到個flash.

Any chings here can confirm this point?

17-40L use in 7D & 50D internal flash ---> 唔用hood also have black shadow. sure!

I had the same issue with internal flash. Just don't use lens hood with internal flash and you will be fine.

u can still use the internal flash @ the 17mm if u buy this thing from shamsuipo apliu street $20-30 hkd

BUT beware, u cannot insert anything into the hotshoe as Nikon (once u insert anything into the hotshoe of canon, the internal flash can't fire), try use adhesive tape

imo, build in flash is just for casual shots! never bother to get anything for enhancing its useability! it's just a waste of time and money.

我用500D, 除左HOOD 就唔會有陰影了~
