40D kit set再放支Kit 鏡再入18-200 IS (呢支整體質素好過17-85而且cover wide同tele),當然價錢會高些少。

Image quality for 450D and 40D will not have much difference.

450D lighter, iso 1600 but better auto iso 100-800, shutter speed upto 1/4000", 3.5 fps. general use already very good.

40D heavier, iso3200 but poor auto iso 400-800 only, shutter speed upto 1/8000". 6.5 fps. for sport

Your choice.

Depends on what you want and do you want to take a heavier camera ?

For travel, 450D + 18-200 is already very good.

I have 450D , 18-200 and 40D body so I know the differences. I only use 40D for sport otherwise 450D is good enough and light to carry.

I will consider 18-200 is good as general purpose and travel lens, the image quality is good given it's range, of course don't compare with L lens. Compare with 18-55 + 55-250, I will consider the distortion is high at 18 mm and the 200mm is quite good compare with 55-250. It is sharp and the IS function very well. I did not run a direct comparison just my feeling. The AF speed is fast even without USM. The front element of the lens will not rotate during focus or zoom so using filter is not a problem, it is better than 18-55 and 55-250.

You guys may wait for the Tamron 18-270 VC test report and comparison between the two, as the Tamron can mount on 5D or 5D mark II, you will have back corners at the range of 18-29mm but after that you can use the Tamron as 29-270mm but you can't mount the 18-200 on 5D or mark II.

The only problem on Tamron is the max. apeture is only f6.3, the AF speed may be very poor in low light as most Canon bodies AF sensors only sensitive to max. apeture on f5.6. I don't know the performance of AF of Tamron on low light so I pick up the 18-200 due to its f5.6.

The 18-200mm lens is really convenient. As for Tamron, while I have not read any review, I guess the 18-270 VC will be good. The VC will be very useful. But focusing would not be as fast as your 18-200mm.

My 18-250mm (no VC, as you know) is very good. Sharp (until after 150 or 200mm) with saturated colour. For object and landscape, it is great. Not no so good for portrait indoor because of its color rendition. But it is just my own taste. I still like this lens very much. I took it out last week on my 450D. Great. Take a look. Have you shot with your Tamrons lately?
