我只係想奉勸各新手一個阿媽係女人的道理︰ 器材無錯好緊要，但係似乎好多人花太多精神、時間落咗去器材度。

應該出去影多啲相，接觸及拍攝唔同題材，你學到的東西會多過在forum或雜誌上的甚麼牌子、鏡頭大比拼多多聲。

FACT to both N & C friends:
1. pro use CANON and NIKON, as well as SONY. Most of my pro friends use CANON, NOT NIKON [u may argue that they are not pro, but they gain all $ from photography). I use CANON for jobs (wedding & products). [I play both NIKON & CANON, switched from NIKON to CANON in 199x)

2. NIKON has no good consumer level lenses at similar price & quality as 17-40/4L, 70-200/4L IS, 100-400IS, (the 24-105/4L is much better than the Nikon 24-120VR, see http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/24120vr.htm)

3. CANON has no good large aperture wide angle / ultra wide lenses as NIKON

4. NIKON has no good super tele as CANON

5. CANON has no `in-camera' CA elimination

6. NIKON has no `in-camera' peripheral illumination correction
.........

I can write many many pro-canon or pro-nikon findings.
BUT that will not make me take better pictures.

it is just a waste of time on debating CANON vs NIKON, which one is good, which one is bad.

Your camera is like your girl friend, if u fully understand her, don't give up her.

no, I mean fix focal lens ultra wide angle lens with large aperture. Overall CANON's lens is not as good as NIKON's counter parts, e.g. Nikkor AF 14mm f/2.8 D ED (luckily, I don't have much $ to invest on these wide angle lens of CANON)

BUT the ultra wide angle zoom of CANON is better than the counter parts of NIKON, e.g. there is no NIKON lens can compare with 17-40/4L in terms of price and performance

In short from my experience using N & C in the past 10 years (DSLR),

overall ultra wide prime: NIKON wins

overall super tele: CANON wins

overall AF motor speed: CANON wins (many NIKON lens up-to-date are slow non AF-S or non AF-I lenses). e.g. how can Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D VR compare with CANON's 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM in terms of AF speed? the Nikon really sucks here!)

overall AF sensor: NIKON wins, my 7D cannot compare with the D300 AF sensor system in terms of accuracy & speed

overall FLASH system: NIKON wins CANON a lot

overall WB/exposure accuracy: NIKON wins. All my CANON DSLR cannot easily reproduce purple & violet accurately

overall color for landscape: I like NIKON (but NIKON cannot win Olympus's blue sky! Nikon's sky is grey & dull, CANON's sky full of magenta)

overal color for girls: I like CANON
