be specific... it's not hard to search canon has 3 AF 50mm prime lenes still selling on shelf . It's also not hard to find out which one is the best too. So that's why no one answered your question so far. My only recommendation is that you need to do some minimum work b4 asking questions

thank you look_yau. Your pics are great with the 50.4, and indeed i tried both 50.4 and 50.2 before, likely i will go for 50.2...however,
i still want to see if there are any other choices in parallel to 50.2 .
thank you.

That depends on what u want: bokeh, sharpness, build
I have used several 50 mm lenses, Minolta 50/1.7, Canon 50/1.2, 1.4, 1.8, Sigma 50/1.4, Nikon 50/1.8
(a) Sharpness: of these lenses are excellent, no need to consider
(b) build: 50/1.2 & Sigma 50/1.4 are best
(c) bokeh: a perfect bokeh
1. should be "Guassian" as produced by Minolta/Sony 135/STF --- creamy
2. Least amount of "cat-eye bokeh" (caused by so called 口徑蝕)
3. Least amount of "nisen bokeh" (double line ghost image)
If u want a 50 mm prime lens to get the BEST bokeh, u can only consider Sigma 50/1.4, its bokeh is creamy & least amount of "nisen bokeh" & least amount of "cat-eye bokeh" at the corner
I sold Canon 1.2 (after discovered its poor "nisen bokeh" (double line ghost image) & Sigma (due to front-back focus issue).
I only keep Canon 50/1.4 & 1.8 for CANON, I feel quite ok with Canon 50/1.4 (its bokeh is not the best, but less "nisen bokeh", it does have poor "cat-eyes bokeh".
