For shooting kids you'll need a fast lens. 85.2 is a great lens but it is relatively slow and you'll be standing quite far away from the subject. C2470 would be a better choice as it is reasonably fast and you have the flexibility of distance.

I have c2470 and I use it a lot for my monkey at home, though sometimes I still find it not quick enough and I'm seriously considering C35.4 for it's large aperture for motion capture (and sharpness).

takwei師兄... 我影小朋友都係用5d2+24-70... 對焦快, 2.8全開都好利
不過黎緊都會入支35L或者85mm.. 未諗定邊支
但85mm應該會買sigma.... 85L太貴了... 而且對焦速度亦出名慢
85mm如果室外影人帶景個感覺唔錯, 但室內就35mm實用d
所以我諗左成個月都未諗掂...hahah

I am also thinking 24mm or 35 mm for myself. I am very likely go for 24mm as my 7D got a crop sensor.
