Simply got it for 1.5 month, i bought it sight seeing travel and I am stll in somewhere for vacation, i thought it was weather proof so I took it to a beach during a rainy day (Slight rainning but strong wind), the accident was too quick for me to notice, a big wave splashed at me and my 7D. The lens and the whole body was totally wetted by the sea water. Now, after one night, the flash has no response, the moive switch cannot function properly, other seems like normal.....just for now.

Just want to share with all Ching in this forum...........

if really water proof
why they need to sale you a house for camera to diving ?

they are just water drop prevent

師兄我不專業意見:
sea water 係有鹽份, 會導電. ,因為你電腦板上有海水,通電後係會有電解作用,
電解部機的電路板!!! 重會有氯氣侵蝕電路板,所以第一件事係攞左粒電出黎吾好再著佢,就算著都係試一試就吾好再著. 攞上cs睇下佢會吾會幫你洗下部機.
其實有機會係鹽份係d開關制會阻住導電話已經電解左一d吾通電的野阻住粒制操作, cs有心的話應該可以整到.
無心就當然話要成個底板換......

Yes, I know. It is not the problem of water, or rain, it was sea water!!!! Basically, I have no hope on saving back the 7D (the IC board), I am back to hong kong now, see if CS can help me tomorrow............

Already went to CS this morning, the quotation price is not known yet, have to wait few more days after checked. Hope it is not total loss, if the whole IC board required to repair, it will not be cheap! Hahaha! Just want to remind all Ching in this forum, do not get close to sea water, accident may occur any moment........

Minipod Ching, 我係有買旅遊保，保單更說明包括相機損壞，但不知是否包括「入海水」意外，現打算明天和保險索償公司跟進，請問有冇ching有呢方面嘅經驗呢？

I had an accident last year during travel and my telephone was also wetted by sea water. CS of LG costed me $3200 repairing charge. Nevertheless, the ceiling per claim for demage/lost item of my travel insurance was only $3000. Finally, the insurance compary decieded to pay $2200 for me to buy a new one (market price of the same model).

btm ching, thanks for your comment, I also got max. HKD 3000 per damage/lost item, below is the quote of insurance details

5. 本公司將不會作出以下賠償：
(a) 因正常磨損、逐漸變質，或機械或電力故障或錯亂而引致
的損失。

Don't know if malfucntion of IC board is included, if they consider it is 電力故障或錯亂而引致的損失, then i am done............hahaha~~!!

你可放心,CS只會報告你的相機要維修的項目及價錢,但你填Claim Form 時一定要寫出此意外的成因及損壞是因意外引起,

你最好以電話報告incident 比保險公司先,因CS報價需時,你可能會錯過report period.
