When buying stuff in US or Canada, they always apply sale taxes on it. Frankly speaking, 10% sale tax is the common level for all provinces.

When you found US$900 on this link, the calculation must be as follow:

US$900+ 10% sales tax = US$990

US$990 x 7.78 = HK$7700.

Well, most of big chain stores in US and in Canada are out of stock and they do not know when they will have stock.

When consumers thinks it's great to have no GST in Hong Kong, remember we are all paying indirect tax for high properties price, poor social secuities and exhausting social resources by mainlanders without paying tax.

And now, the official price in HK is still higher than the after-tax price in US. Who suffer?

I always check and find the DSLR, lenses and all other gears are less expensive when comparing to the price in North America.

The HK price raise a lot....I do believe it is because of Japan earthquake.

In North America, the price is very stable or they don't allow the price to drop. But in HK, like Asia, the price is way more up and down because of 炒賣人士多.

Well..... Local warranty is best investment for DSLR bodies and lenses.
