題目Donation of Digital Camera to Beichuan     Post time: 6 月 29 日

Dear All C-hing,

Please have a look on this meanful event and action before 6 July details quoted from the memo:

"Soliciting for Digital Cameras to Earthquake-stricken Students in Beichuan

Dear Donors-to-be,

We are writing to solicit your assistance in donating used and yet-functional digital cameras for the Project “Post-disaster cultural restoration and healing of the Qiang Ethnic Community of Beichuan”, a 3-year joint effort by Professor Longdi the Institute of Psychology, The Chinese Academy of Science, Professor Renita Wong, University of York, Dr. Timothy Leung, the Social Work Department, The Chinese University of Hong Kong targeting at facilitating the spiritual and psychological healing of the teachers and students in Beichuan Middle School, one of the hardest hit spots during the earthquake.

The Project has been being launched since September 2008. This summer, we continually put efforts to collect local people’s “voices” and “images” of community rebuilding and healing through various creative and culturally appropriate means, one of those being photo arts. We believe students have different perspectives and ways of expression. Photography can undoubtedly facilitate them to verbalize their thoughts and feelings. Holding this belief, we aim at soliciting for 30 digital cameras to post-disaster students in Beichuan Middle School so that they can express themselves through the lens. Hardly could we achieve the goal without your assistance owing to the limited resources. Further, your participation will spread the message to those students and their families that we do care.

Your generosity is, therefore, of paramount importance to achieve the goal. All we need is a yet-working digital camera, regardless of its brand and model, with the basic gear like batteries, charger and memory cards. If you have any digital camera idle at home, or if you are planning to upgrade your existing equipment, please kindly echo our mission in helping the students in Beichuan.

For donation and enquiries, please contact Timothy Leung, the Project Consultant, at 26097519 or timothy.leung@cuhk.edu.hk or Mr. Chen Wai Yip at info@mvphotostory.com or at 6600 2565, on or before Monday, July 6, 2009. "
