If you just print the photo in A4 size, these two printers are the best choices.

I use Canon Printer BJC4550 in a long time. It is an A3 inkjet printer. At the end of last year, I want to buy a new A3 inkjet printer. I found the information of 3 brands' A3 printer, but only Canon printer and Epson printer are designed the ink catridge of each colour individually. I compare the quality and colour of them. Strictly speak, I don't like the colour of Epson printer before, because the colour is too saturate. But SP2100 is different with the other Epson printer, because it use the "pigment" ink (it only used in large format of inkjet porter before, and all the desktop printer are use dye ink only). The colour is match the original/object very closely. Of course, I have brought my photo (a tiff file) to their showroom and try to print on different inkjet paper (only Epson (HK) have this service). You should imagine the result.

Epson R800 is use the new generation of pigment, therefore the colour should be better then my SP2100. The new pigment ink improve the problem of the low glossy surface of the old one. The surface of the print out is much glossier than the 1st generation such as the traditional inkjet printout.

I haven't see the print out of Canon 990. I trust the quality should be save as i905. The quality should not too bad. I suggest you to see the quality of the print out of these two printers before you make decision.

For my choice, I deem I will choose R800. I like colour of the pigment ink.

My printer is an old model HP930C.
I use it to print A4 size photo. I am not compare with other printers. I only want to have the same quality just like those sample photos I saw when I bought the printer. But I can't.

Following is my printing procedure:
1. My file is taken by Canon G2 (4 million pixels)raw file. After converting to tiff format, the size of file is about 11MKb.
2. After using photoshop 7 to make some minor touching, I use photoshop to adjust the image size. First, adjust the resolution from default 300 pixel/inch to 600 pixel /inch. Second, change the pixel dimension to suit A4 size paper.
3. Photoshop reform the photo to my setting (size of file is about 100MKb)
4. Using HP gloss photo paper to print the photo by photoshop.

Above is all my printing procedure. But I can't get the same result as those sample photos. (Of course, the photo quality has no problem)

I Just buy D70, 6 million pixel, hole the quality of file can help.

Ha Ha Ha...interesting...interesting...

My brother met the same problem in several weeks ago, and ask me "What can I do?"

Finally, I used several hours to explain what is the main reason of it - "COLOUR MANAGEMENT".

I try my best to teach you how to minimize the problem.

On your PC:
1. I assume you are using PC (Window). Calibrating your monitor by "Adobe gamma" first (step-by-step only). (Note: it may not work on the LCD monitor that it cannot setting the "RED", "GREEN", "BLUE" channel individually, and change the contrast)

2. Go to the "Color settings and change the following setting:
-Settings: Custom
-Working Spaces - RGB: Adobe RGB(1998) Note: Choose sRGB if your
photo is use sRGB
CMYK: Photoshop 5 default CMYK
Gray: Gray Gamma 2.2 (PC only)
Spot: Dot Gain 15%
-Color Management Policies: Choose "Preserve Embedded Profiles" of all
of three channels

Other setting use default is okay.

On your Printer
1. make sure you are using the original ink catridge.
2. make sure the ink catridge is not empty.
3. align and clean the printing head by software
4. print the testing page to make sure your printer in good condition.

唔好意思....請問有冇優質沖印店或lap提供參考，實在試過太多間，表現都唔係太理想，當中試過有間lap做出黎好高質素，做20吋送俾朋友，靚到唔敢相信係由600插值上1200(fuji機，RAW format)，但搵返呢間做細相，只可當做裁放收費，3R要HK$12，好似太貴，請指教 ^^

I have just finished to test my maintained old camera and brought the film to a laboratory (Start Camera & Radio Co., Ltd - Tel: 2428166) that beside my home. The feature of their developed photo is quite more detail, but the contrast is so smooth...

I have used another lab (Digital Production - Kwun Tong shop, Tel: 27687842; Mongkok shop, Tel: 27687828) before. The feature of the photo they developed is sharp and high contrast, but the detail loss a little bit. I have seen an artist (Ker Lea Fer: I forgot his name) at their Kwun Tong shop before...

Hope they can help you! Their development price is very reasonable...

Lastly, you are wellcome to enter my forum.

唔該晒，一定會去試下。另外請問第一間o係邊區呢?
係呀，3R $12嚇死我，當做裁放咁收，但佢做大相就平囉，上次做張20"裱油畫壓板，連埋粗木theme，$800有找。
自家沖印...我都有試過，不過printer唔係太適合印相，質素都幾差 >.<

1. epson 的 printer 膚色略偏粉紅, canon 的較能維持原色(可能因為我是用

2. canon 的層次較弱. epson 的techical staff 說這是因為 canon 的 墨 色較
深.　　
不知對否, 這是不是可以調較 --

1. epson 的 printer 膚色略偏粉紅, canon 的較能維持原色 - Yee! 這是它們各自的成像特徵 (feature)．．．But you can adjust the colour by photoshop. For my opinion, the colour of the printour of 2100 is different with the other printer. It is because it is using pigment ink, and the other old model Epson printer and all the other brand's printer is using dye ink....

2. canon 的層次較弱. epson 的techical staff 說這是因為 canon 的 墨 色較
深 - Yes, that's true. 這就是"Pigment ink" 和 "dye ink"的different. This is why I choose 2100. Colour can adjust, but detail cannot create from nono.

If you don't mind the printout size, you can choose the other New Epson printer (A4 size)...
