Microdrive does use more power (so your battery life is shorter), but is very stable. This is a problem if you have not enougth batteries.
Microdrive is Type II so not all PDAs can accept them, even if the do (i.e. HP4700), woul will find the speed is slow as cache is small.

As CF prices are much cheapers these days, there is less reason to use microdrive. I have 2 and they are still working welll. I only use when my CF are all full :-D
