The Carl Zeiss range of T* ZM-mount lenses offer the highest possible standards in terms of performance, reliability and, of course, image quality. Carl Zeiss T* ZM-mount lenses are specifically designed to minimize focus shift with aperture changes – an important innovation for rangefinder photography. The ZM lenses feature ten aperture blades. The almost circular aperture helps to create a particularly harmonious effect in the out-of-focus areas of the picture (bokeh). All ZM lenses are made entirely of metal; mostly aluminum and brass. The only plastic you can find on them are the lens caps!
The 35mm f/2 lens offers moderate wide-angle focal length and is the most popular lenses for rangefinder photography. It gives outstanding performance, distortion-free images and the fast f/2 aperture permits handheld photography under difficult lighting conditions. When stopped down, the lens accurately captures the smallest details, yielding images with very good contrast and ‘sparkle’.
The Biogon T* 2/35 ZM is indeed a great, all-around lens. It would be a great option as your primary or secondary lens and can be used under all circumstances. A sharp lens with great color and signature with a performance that's very good in general and quite lifelike. The lens highly handy too as it weights only 240g.
It's getting difficult to find this lens in the market. My lens is 95% new since I seldom use it due to many 35 mm lenses I own. Complete with front and rear caps, box, Zeiss test certificate, warranty (now void), instruction manual, lens description and the original invoice.
The filter size is 43mm, which differs from the more common 46mm size of many ZMs. Hence I would sell the lens with the UV Filter (a German made B+W filer, 95% new).
My price is now reduced to HK$6,000!which also include the Zeiss hoop (very difficult to find too). Price is non-negotiable.
