I am thinking to buy the new SIGMA 17-35mm F2.8-4 FX DG Ashperical/HSM $3200 or TAMRON 17-35mm F2.8-4 Di LD Ashperical (IF) $3680, which one is better, I am using D70 now! I am a new user of D-SLR, does anyone can do me a flavor?

In fact, I want to buy the SIMGA 12-24mm, but need HK$4900!

Sigma 色調偏黃，逆光鏡片全 flog，但 EX 級鏡身好實剩，對焦快。

Tamron 色調準確，解像力高，唯鏡身較脆弱。

Sigma 絕大部份鏡頭都係色調偏黃，由 17-35, 24-70, 28-70, 70-200, 180macro 我或朋友都試過，的確係偏黃色。

I bought a japanese book for talk about all new lens ( include new / update model ), they have a detail test review of many lens.
I think that book is worth to buy, I bought it at MONG KOK around $210 at ' buy king', escpecially for the LENS RESOLUTION, they have a detailed test, and has a chat to let you compare with other lens....for the test, they divided by WIDE / STANDARD ZOOM .......very useful book!

For the 17-35mm WIDE ANGLE..
for the resolution, they give
TAMRON : 4 stars ( 5 is prime )
SIGMA : 4.5 stars
Nikon 18-35mm ( 3 stars )

for the 逆光test:
as 軍佬said, Sigma is fail, but the Canon 17-40mm F4L USM is very good in this section.

the book name: EXCHANGE XXX ( all in japanese word ) 2004, even it is a japanese book, but since they have many pictures for comparison, U will easy to understand what da meaning!

If using 300D, since focus lenth is a multiple of 1.6, 12-24mm is a better choice. SHaprness of Sigma is very close to Nikon AF Lens.
17mm is not really a wide angle lens, it worth to pay extra $12xx to gain extra 5mm. It's fanstastic mate!

finally, I bought the SIGMA 12-24mm EX today - $4800 @ Tin cheung, nice service as usual!
In fact, I really want to buy the SIGMA 17-35mm one, since the Japanese book recommend this one, and the resolution is 5stars ( after I read again, it is 5stars - prime, NOT 4.5 stars ), tin cheung price just $2950, but NO STOCKS...need to wait 10days!

But there has somthing so interesting.
The book test the 17-35mm SIGMA, he writer gave 4.5 stars overall, and the TAMRON is 4stars only, in JAPAN, SIGMA is 70000yen, TAMRON is 60000yen, but in HK, SIGMA is HKD$2950 (WATER), and TAMON need around HKD$3400
