Happy new year!

Refer to your question about considering buying a tele lens. The structure of Macro lens is different with the prime tele lens. We cannot compare with them. If you may need it for portrait, EF135mm f2L should be the suitable one.

Also, some user always compare EF50mm f1.4 with EF50mm f1.8. Some one say they are the same, some one say they are different. On my view point, you should buy 50mm f1.4 if your budget is enough.

I understand that a macro lens is different from a general tele. Some people don't like macro lenses for other uses (too sharp? not best performance for distant objects?). But I'm already happy with my macro for portrait, so I'll keep it for dual uses. :)

Back to choosing a tele. I'm intending for indoor music concerts shooting. I have some opinions, and can they help me make a decision?

135mm f2L:
Very quick lens. I love f2.
Perfect performance for portrait.
Still very quick even adding a teleconverter.
More expensive than 200mm f2.8L!
Not long enough for distant objects.
200mm f2.8L:
Very quick lens.
Good focal length for distant objects.
Compact and comparable weight to 135mm f2L.
Tripod collar is very expensive!
70-200mm f2.8L (IS/non-IS):
Zoom is very convenient.
Image quality very good comparing with primes.
Very expensive.
Heavy and bulky. Appearance is professional but sometimes too exaggerated.

If I add a teleconverter to 135mm f2L, does it perform well comparing with 200mm f2.8L? The 135mm seems to be more versatile. For longer focal length I can add a teleconverter, but I have to consider the image quality. The zoom function could be sacrificed, I think.

講真EF135mm 2.0L 的實用性和質素都高 EF200mm 2.8L。 如你真的用作濱唱會等場合就用小白IS好些。唔通當個表演者走近時才去忘著換鏡頭？！

我尋日係海灘影相相, 用左+2/3EV, 發覺d相幾有少少over, 都唔知係咁曬既環境要點先影得好呢?

仲有用左支50mm定焦之後...真係對d zoom lens冇晒興趣, 因為定焦既質素真係好好, 就萛Kit lens收到f8都差好遠....

依家仲想買支28mm f1.8 USM for general purposes, 唔知有冇人用緊?

小弟想問下呢, 如果我部相機body個五錂鏡底(即由個接鏡環望上去0個度)有塵, 可唔可以自行折出黎清潔呢? 因為我見好似係可以拎開d縲絲就可折出黎, 但我又驚會砌唔番, 有無人可以有折過的經驗呢? 因為我唔識, 又唔想比錢去廠整, 我部係 Canon EOS 50E, 謝謝高人指點

Kancy, in strong backlight environment, try a half gray filter or a ND filter to reduce contrast, than add flash. It may help. Adding EV will become worse because too much light enters the camera.

Griffin2000, thanks for comment. I don't take pics in pop concerts but music concerts or rehearsals for my friends. Not using a zoom may not cause a serious problem, so a good quick prime lens is my choice (also lighter and less expensive though I love "little white"). I have a 17-40mm f4L for wide shots, and may buy a 50mm for full-body or half-body portrait.

Kancy, metering is also important. Do you meter at the dark subject or the bright background? Metering at the subject will cause the background overexposed, while metering at the background will cause the subject underexposed. And the proportions of dark and bright objects matter.
