Couple weeks ago I saw the price of S50 was HK$3980 plus a free 128 mb CF card. But I went to Fortress and the price remains the same but they only have a free 64mb CF card. Any place I can search for a good deal? 行貨 only.

How do you feel about the S50? I am kinda worried if I buy it in some electronic stores in MongKok. I guess I prefer to go to chain store even thought it may be a bit more expensive but better quality and services.

From what I've read (especially in dpreview's canon forum), S50 is inferior to S45, apart from the 5 megapixel. Anyway it's still a nice unit which is both portable and gives you very good if not excellent pictures.

I feel OK with the Mongkok stores (those in 星際 or 先達) as I always like the lowest price as well as a good return policy. Just make sure the unit you are buying is all-new and all the bundled accessories are present together with a valid warranty card issued by Canon HK. For some shops, you could also test the camera before buying so you won't get one with a defective LCD screen or CCD sensor.

However, if you don't mind paying a little more, go ahead with Broadway or Fortress.

Thanks for all your kindly advise. I got the S50 this afternoon in Broadway with a free 128mb ScanDisk CF card. I checked with the Fortress first but no one was available to answer my questions anyway. I think I really like the camera. Yet, the canon case (extra $100) was look horrible to me (of course I didn't buy it).

Battery is another issue. There is an alternative GP battery who is $150 cheaper than the canon one which is even a bit stronger than Canon original, it just looks strange to me.

哦..其實S50你唔加鏡幾正架...自從我SET個resolution去最大之後..(唔係RAW) 我就唔多捨得設返細佢....真係好正好SHARP.....雖然我真係幾鐘意G3..又可以加鏡加閃燈..但係我稔我以後真係玩落去先買D可以有黎D功能囉.....暫時最重要..都係畢業相同埋生活相...
想學Hardy咁玩D藝術野..但係可惜唔知點解無乜靈感兼機會咁0既...

I have played around with the S50 this weekend. It's nice but i felt funny that the low battery light was on after 6 hours i was playing with it (on and off of course). I wonder when the "low battery" light is on, how much time is left before it shuts down?

我見黎個勢就去換電囉...(記住..無話無電仲過相..可能過到一半話罷工叫你換電先再過過.....我因為咁第二日就去買舊原廠電...)

I guess I might need an extra battery soon if i am going to take pics outdoor. For long, I can stick with my Canon original battery.
I had mentioned that the GP batter can be used in S50. Can I buy a GP battery and recharge it by the Canon battery charger?

I think i may need to buy a adaptor so i don't need to use this battery all the time and have to recharge it too frequently. I wonder how much it would cost. If i have an adaptor, i will save the batter for the daytime use outdoor or at work

I asked Fotress this afternoon and they don't sell adaptor for my D.C. Then I called to Canon and they told me to leave message :(. I am struggling whether i should buy an adaptor or an extra GP batteries.
