quicker startup (claim 0.9 sec.)
shorter shutter lag (claim 0.05 sec.)
shorten time of taking photo (1.5 sec per photo)
LDC display with 60 pfs refresh rate....

Actually not significant improvement compared to J1, so I bought J1 yesterday ... its really a nice DC for me which suits all my needs !!

J1 and R40 are DC I am considering.
R40 uses AA battery and very user friendly with Chinese, no need to read menu. The most powerful is you can save the shooting setting as a template or save the setting whenever it is turned off.
J1 is full of functions although not very user friendly, you need to learn from menu.

I also considered R40 and J1 ... but I finally bought J1 because of its movie function ... R40 takes only 30s movie with no sound ...
And I bought J1 at very low price, only $1890 water good ...

Yes, I bought my J1 at DCC ... I wanted to buy also a Panasonic 256mb SD card there but they've got no stock, the price is $660 ...

I'm still looking for Panasonic and just found that there is Pan 256mb available at Wanchai 298 at price $660, I'll buy one there ... 'cos I heard the comments said only Pan or Lexar 256 can take "full" movie by J1 ... and Pan provides faster speed ...

not all lexar can take full movie, mine does not.
for panasonic, remember to buy one which has a large 10MB/s printing on the packing.

btw, where did you find the price at $660? which shop? most of them list at around $760 wor!
i'm still swinging between buying j1 and r40!!!
