I'm a FZ1 user suffering only the 2mp small size CCD

The FZ10 is 4MP and would solve this problem.
I would highly recommend to any body who don;t need DSLR but serious to take photo at lower cost.

Definitely, IMHO.

I have FZ1, and it is a joy to use. I expect the FZ10 to be even more fun (despite being a bit bigger and heavier).

Think of it this way, to get a similar lens for film SLR, you are talking big bucks (tens of thousand dollars at least), and many times heavier.

FZ10 gives you almost every (except for wide angle) in one sexy package, and at a very very very reasoanble price.

I also love what this babe will do to lower the asking prices on other new DCs/DSLRs as well

A1 and FZ10 are very similar in functionalities. FZ10 has more compact and beatiful body. A1 has more powerful functions. Both of them have image stabilizer and high quality lenses.

If u don't need a 28mm wide angle lens, FZ10 is perfect but a little lower in resolution.

The compact body of FZ10 is much more attractive than A1, in addition of much lower in the price.

I don't think FZ10 user will favor to select DSLR be the alternative. Only A1 or compact DC will be their choices.

Selection of FZ10 or A1 is really depending on your taste and application.

I think FZ10 will be of much better value, when compared to the DSLR, for those who:

(1) don't want to spend big bucks on DSLR and 3 lenses;
(2) tired to carry the bulky and heavy DSLR and 3 lenses*;
(3) don't mind the smaller sensor and so more noise
(4) love the hugh Leica zoom with constant aperture
(5) love to take nature shoots with the 420 mm zoom
(6) hate to carry a tripod all the time (it has IS**)
(7) don't mind missing the superb DSLR viewfinder

I have an FZ1 and able to print photos up to 8R with PS with the Neatimage. The FZ10 will be more powerful with all the manual control and 4MP, at the expense of being 60% heavier and bigger, which is still somewhat lighter and smaller than A1 and much more so than the DSLR.

* a 420 mm lens for DSLR will be about 270 mm long
** With IS I can take shots as low as 1/8 sec at the full telephoto end (420 mm) end with my FZ1.

Dear FZ1 users,

I am also very interested in the FZ10, may I ask for some of your experience with the FZ1 which I can probably directly project to the FZ10.

1. hows the AF speed and accuracy and more importantly the shutter lag? (after pre-focusing)
2. hows the out of focus area when its used with aperture wide open in the zoom range between 50-100mm (35mm equivalent), I primarily like to know how suitable we can use it for portrait photo taking.

Besides the above unknowns, the only weakness I have found for FZ10 is its noise level even at ISO 100, but I think it can be get away by neatimage, or forcing to use ISO 50 with IS switched ON.

Pls. kindly advise from your experience, and even better if you can share with us some portrait pictures in that zoom range.
