no, they are built for difference purpose. G5 is general purpose DC for prosumers and FZ10 is built for special purpose, IS with long tele zoom power, and it compromise on image quality and resolution.
but a lot of SLR user pick it up for the unusual possibilities created by it.

They are of different class.
FZ10 emphasis on bright lens at long zoom.
G5 emphasis on image quality.

It all depends on what you want.
There is no standard answer.

I myself prefer FZ10 because it gives a lot more photo opportunities than G5.
Image quality for sharing in the net is not that important. Of course it is only my humble opinion.
