Now i have about $3000 and my friend suggest me to buy Dx4530 or dx6440.

i know that these two's value are nearly~

DX4530 is just a totally automatic DC ! Don't have any manual functions even the white balance and ISO values ! Unless you bought it for parents use, otherwise I will suggest DX6440 ! It provide more manual functions and I believe that the photo quality for DX6440 is better !

Totally agree to buy DX6440, for the satisfaction of performance and value, but you have to get the printer dock 6000 as well to have the full convenience of photo printing and sharing thru internet.

I am also considering whether or not to buy DX6440. Do I need to buy the dock if I simply wish to transfer the photos to the hard disk of computer?

Not a "must" to buy the dock, it is only for printing photos, and battery charging. You can still transfer the photos to computer without the dock.
