My important experience for your important reminder:-

Because of the CompactFlash Card used to record images, it is quite difficult to perfectly shoot down my desired movement images. In any circumstances I do not believe both Nikon CoolPix series and Canon PowerShot series digital camera models are for taking standstill pictures only, but their functions have in fact been terribly affected by the use of CompactFlash Card!!! This is very true!!!

The problem can become more serious when the Card is nearly full in memory. It will take at least a few seconds to wait to complete the recording process, and during these at least a few seconds, the images have changed in style already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is VERY bad!!!

On many occasions I tried to catch up with the moving hands of sportsmen in football fields. I viewed the LCD display, and pressed the autofocus button halfway and then full-down in an attempt to capture my desired images. It was found later that the whole CompactFlash Card had recorded undesired irregular and strange images because it had taken some time itself to complete each recording process!!! So you can imagine......

XD Card (for Fujifilm FinePix series digital camera models) is, on the other hand, much better and faster in this aspect. Even though it is more expensive than CompactFlash Card, you must find it worth the cost!!! That's VERY genuine!!!

Nikon and Canon have been 'cheapened' by the use of CompactFlash Card. Sigh!!!

以你之見，你有沒有試過用一些高速Compact flash去再試這些功能。試想像，現在大部份Digital SLR 仍在採用CF，如是說他們都會遇到相同問題。

一張128MB xD幾乎可以買到一張256MB CF。性價比上說未至於不可接受吧。多付一點追回性能，也合情合理吧？

說真的，其餘格式就算SD/MMC也不見得快許多。

你o既觀念完全係錯, CF 一d 都唔cheap, 問題係你用邊種速度, 48x 以上o既CF , 係快得好勁, 一d 唔會比xD card 慢.....

再講, 用DC , 你快極都有個限度, 始終佢唔似DSLR 有咁大buffer, 影完要等等係必然咁滯..........

想完全唔駛等, 可以即時捕捉主體, 用DSLR 啦, 有好大buffer, 可以non-stop 的連影數張....

普通既DC不過係休閒用途,影D到此一遊既相就唔錯喇!!

不論用咩卡
save 落卡之前都要經過 buffer
(現今 fc hard disk io 都未能跟 ram 相提並論
要高速連拍當然要依賴大 buffer
consumer 機成本所限 buffer 當然細
樽頸位就係果度

CF 雖然大張, 不過亦係優勢所在
CF 將控制器做埋係卡上,
只要張卡既控制器提昇, 連接cf 既器材就有更佳既 r/w speed
有更好既表現
有少少似 scsi harddisk 咁將 contraoller 做係 harddisk 度
而唔係做係 底版到咁

而 其他細卡就唔可以, 提昇速度只可以更改 media,
仲要部裝置既 r/w 介面/ IO 配合到先得...
不過 CF 都會出現兼容問題, 視品牌而定

CF card = less money
MS/SD card = more money...

if u want a DC for fun... why not cheaper one... unless u r a big fan of Sony... and also buy MS Pro... if not... MS is still slower read and write then High speed CF... also size is a matter...

I think that Nikon and Canon is just try to make it cheaper 4 most people... nowadays... Nikon CP 3700, Canon Ixus i, and Canon Ixus II is all using SD card... do u think is better for the memory card is only smaller???

Also I think that why u find out all of this problem is the buffer memory inside the DC... if u say is all that bad with CF card... why all the D-SLR still only using CF... not SD,XD,MS... etc...

You need to treat DC or DSLR as a small computer with media only function. No matter how good is your camera. The CMOS or CCD inside that camera is a small CPU that required time to process the information that you take though the lense. Image processing is one of the most CPU hungry process though out computer history. In the old days, we need to use super-computer to carry such task. Due to the space program in the 70's that NASA has go into research to see whether they can use a sigle chip to get better result for image that taken millions of miles away. This is the early implemention of image processing and also the father of modern Digital processing or camera. A consumer base DC has a slower CPU and memory that require longer time for processing. The CMOS or CCD Chip and Buffer or cache memory inside a DC or DSLR is the most expensive components ( Marketing cost also one of the most expensive cost well.) of a digital camera. The firmware or if you like to call it the softeware is also part of the equation. Your bad experience with Nikon or Canon is only tell me that you are very new into digital photography and the kind of a shot you want require a more high end camera to fulfil it. If you are really into spot action photography. Try to invest on a Nikon D2H or canon D1 or may be pickup a used D1H.
