I have been using dc for a pretty long time, i realize dc is so so easy to get dead pixel ..... so annoying !!
Would that happen to DSLR either?

why not? just the rate may be lower, for that higher price mostly will use better quality component, and better qc.

Of course if you're buying a new camera, you should check for ANY dead/bright pixel on the sensor and LCD.
But IMO, a few dead/bright pixels out of several millions on an image don't matter very much at all, unless you blow up the images to view at 100% all the time.
BTW, which camera do you own? I want to know more about CCD/CMOS developing dead/bright pixels in the long run. Thanks!

bro loyukfai,
''Of course if you're buying a new camera, you should check for ANY dead/bright pixel on the sensor and LCD. ''
of coz i know la .... but i mean when the dc has been using for a while, like 3-4 months, then dead pixel start comming out....... i have nothing to do to stop it happen, unless i don't use it .......
is true that isn't a big promble, but just feel very 篤眼篤鼻 ......
i am a nikon coolpix user .... sorry i don't know much about CCD/CMOS staff .
if DSLR is not that EASY to have dead pixel, i think i will upgrade to DSLR .....

dc and dslr 's ccd construction format are different!!
dc: full time scanning,
dslr: part time, ccd active when takes photo, otherrwise not!!
So, dslr, longer life, reliable and high quality!!

is that means long shutter would increase dead pixel.....?

According to 老叟's theory, then I think long shutter would somewhat increased the workload of CCD/CMOS, therefore, weaken the CCD/CMOS. Still, DSLR is part-time scanning which is far more less demanding than other CCD/CMOS in DC.
Don't pay too much attention on it cause the machine is going to depreciate anyway : )
Keep shooting, shooting and shooting : )

JKDGary: Several months? That's really disappointing, how's your shooting pattern? If the problem is serious I think you may take it to repair.
Moreover, switching to DSLR is a big decision IMO, the usage pattern, weight is of much differences.
And yes, there are some programs to "remap" the dead pixels, IIRC some Nikon has such a feature.

While DSLR should use higher quality parts, they're not immune from dead pixel either:

BTW, here is a discussion about remapping pixels, sounds like for general use and not limited to Nikon:

However i had try it on my cp885, but simes like doesn't work on it ..... dead pixel still there after remaping ~_~ guess i need to bring it back to Nikon la ..... don't know how much would they cost for remaping lea?

Loyukfai Bro,
thank for the information, I'm using EOS 1D for serval years, sometimes when I found the dust on the CCD, I use the air pump the blow just according the procedures shown on the user manual,
Is it the easy way the increase the dead pixel if you blow too strong or too much times on the CCD?

JKDGary: You're welcome, I'm sorry that I don't have a Coolpix to test it so.
I'm not sure but I don't think Nikon will "remap" the dead pixels, I think they'll replace the complete sensor unit if it's unacceptable, which for a few pixels may not qualify.
But that's my guess only, you may call to ask more about it.
ZeroLing: I don't think it will hurt (some people use "sensor swap" to clean the sensor and I've yet to hear dead pixels caused by it) but I'm not an expert in said area so don't takes my words for it. : )
