I think FZ10 and S1IS are better than C770UZ because they have image stablizer. It is difficult to use 10X without hand shaking and IS. And the handling of these two DCs are better too. It will help when you use 10X. However, S1IS is only 3.2MP. This is a important point that you have to concern but I think 3.2MP is enough if you don't print photo that is greater than 4R.

ps: I am struggling in this problem too. Finally, I choose S1IS. After Ihave used it, I love it very much. It is because USM and IS are very useful and the zoom function has two speed according to the angle of zoom button. I used Canon's film camera before(It is belonged to my father) so I have great confidence in Canon's cameras. I will only see photos in my computer so 3.2MP is enough to me. These are the reasons why I choose S1IS and I will buy it in dcfever very soon.

I'm a FZ10 user and highly recommend it because :
- long zoom need image statilizer
- 4 mega pixel allow more to crop.

The physical size of FZ10 is the largest among these 3 but it is still smaller and lighter than DSLR.

I am using c770. I lists out the pros and cons of c770 corresponse to s1 for your consideration.

c770 pros and cons:
1) 4M pixels
2) smaller size and light weight
3) Continuous MPEG4 movie (around 6 times as small as motion JPEG file, ie save memory very much)
4) hot shoe
5) remote control
6) 1.8" LCD
7) use proprietary battery
8) use xD card
9) No image stabalizer (from my experience that when shooting at 10x object with shutter speed faster that 1/30s, it's no problem at all)
10) use traditional zoom motor
11) Fulltime AF speed is a little bit slow when using with optical zoom in movie mode.

S1 pros and cons:
1) 3.2M pixels
2) moderate size and weight
3) only around 8 minutes continuous movie at 640 x 480, 30fps (1GB file size limited)
4) no hot shoe (someone may not need)
5) no remote control
6) 1.5" LCD display which can flip-out and rotate
7) use AA battery
8) use CF card
9) image stabalizer
10) USM
11) I don't know the AF speed in movie mode.

But in terms of image quality, which one is better? Based on the sample photos of both, it seems that C770UZ is better than S1. The photo of S1 is a little bit soft (not that sharp) to me. But the IS of S1 is really attractive. I have tried it before, it's great. You can really eliminate the hand shaking blur even at shutter speed of 1/8s. If C770UZ is also equipped with IS, it would be a perfect camera.

I am also using c770
for me, both a S1 and c770 have excellent image,
but I also think that c770 is sharper than s1 (doesn't mean s1 is not sharp)

Of coz, if c770 hv IS is prefect, but i don't think any brand will produce a perfect camera.(if there is a perfect camera, no one will buy the others)

If your hands shake very serious, IS will be safer to use 10X. (I choose S1 because my hands usually shake serious.) And the choice between S1 and C770UZ is according what you actually need because every people are different. Moreover, S1IS supports remote control but the remote has to be bought seperately. In the other words, it is not included in the S1's kit set.

If I am not wrong, when S1IS captures movie, it can use USM(ultrasonis motor), IS(image stablizer) and 10X optical zoom. That means nearly all functions in capturing photos can be used in movie mode so I think the movie mode is the best among the same class DC except the movie's size==". In addition, the upper limit of the movie in 640X480 30fps is 11 mins(official detail,up to 1G) but the users of it said that the movie can only up to about 8 to 9 mins. And upper limit of the movie in 360X240 15fps is about 60 mins(I don't know it accurately because I am not the user but I will be^^.)It is not unlimited. However, the USM is extremely good. I can promise it because I have tried it. The time which zooming from 1X to 10X is only or less than 1s!! You don't need to worry that it is difficult to make accurate zoom. It is because it's zoom has two speed as I said before. And it only makes very small sound during it is zooming. Therefore, the USM can provide accurate, silent and fast zoom!!

C770計埋張256 xD真係貴到彈起，如果用SD就OK

in fact, 770's photo is sharp is because of its CCD
it uses different CCD than canon
and the CCD of canon tends not to be so bright
if you want it brighter, you can do it in photoshop
I have tried to make some S1 photo looks like 770's...:P
