I am going to buy CP4200 or 5200 as my first DC.
Do you think it is suitable for new DC users ?? Thanks..

i bought my 5200 (hong & made in japan) in CITIXXXX last week, mainly for taking photos at my new born baby. It costs me $3300, comes together with a sandisk 128M sd card.

Pros:
1. Photo quality is good taking count on the color, saturation and white balance.
2. Speed of focus & zoom is amazingly fast.
3. Good form factor and light weight
4. Noise control is fine even taking photo at night.
5. Strong flash.
6. Assist and scene modes are too good to novice users.
7. Focus assist lamp is very helpful in dark environment.
8. The continuous mode allows me to make consecutive 2.5 shots per second.
9. LCD monitor resolution is very high and sharp.
10. Excellent movies quality (640x480 @ 30 fps)
11. SD card as storage enable me to review the pics in my pocketpc (My Transcend 45X 512M sd card costs me $630 only)

Cons:
1. Short battery life
2. Size of monitor screen is small.
3. No manual function like the shutter speed control.
4. A little barrel destortion found in the macro and zoom-wide pics. It's a common problematic issue in many dc including my canon A series model.
5. The software comes with the dc is too primitive.

p.s. Only the first lot 5200 is made in japan. The stock comes later is made in china or se asia.
