but why EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM is so expenisve when compare with the EF 28-135 IS USM.

Originailly, I plan to buy the latter ones but I find the image of that lens is bad and below my expectation. In addiiton, it is a 1998 product so I guess the new IS lens might perform better!

I have viewed some samples taken with Nikkor 24-120 VR and I found the image is satisfactory. How come this Canon lens EF 28-135 IS USM is not performing good?

Darren: So what is your preference about the 50 mm lens?

只以50mm lens來說
Canon EF50 f1.4 usm比Canon EF50 f1.8II好不少....
(理由: 自己read 返Canon 交區16就知)
but 兩支Canon造的50mm lens有缺失而令我不大想去買
1.4之缺失 micro motor USM比ring USM冇gum耐撞,其餘ok
1.8方面, 由於是fibre plastic+ plastic 造之鏡身肯定冇1.4 gum耐撞
一步到位 50 f1.4 usm 26XX
budget用家 50 f1.8 II 6XX

建議買50 f1.4, 因為較耐用,只需不令micro motor USM壞掉就有排用

I buy 50mm f1.4 or f1.8 for protrait only and may be for general purpose sometimes. I am a camera user who very seldom or do not like to use flash in indoor condition.

So I am planning to buy a 50mm f1.x lens. Do you think a f1.4 lens is better than f1.8 in indoor or dark condiitons?

Secondly, if I use f1.4, the depth of view will be very shallow when even in indoor dark condiitons. Am I right? OR the depth of view will be deeper in dark condition?

I ask this because if I buy f1.4 but the image's Depth of view is too shallow even I take photos in indoor conditions, which mean that I need to use a smaller aperture in order to get a sharper image, then why don't I buy a cheap f1.8 lens?

等我講下我既感受啦．．．
六佰幾同兩千幾差四倍價錢，但係質數唔會好四倍！
仲有呀∼　1.4果塊B+W係貴過1.8果塊．．
不過呢，我買支鏡係影狗狗咖∼　影人我就唔知，但係你知ｄ狗毛辰辰咖啦∼加上我唔多用腳架，我用左1.4就好覺1.8好唔掂！　
因為睇ｄ毛sharp唔sharp用1.8一眼就睇得出∼
同埋永成ｄ大叔話1.8果支壽命好短咖咋∼　不過有唔少人都係先買1.8，覺得真係唔夠先買1.4囉∼　我就係其中一個喇！ :P
